Leap into 2016 with a delightful family show, a sexy, late-night comedy, auditions and classes!

Happy New Year everyone!  After A Christmas Story and The Santaland Diaries ended their very successful runs in late December, we took a little break over the holidays and we hope you did too! This is our first week back at work and we have definitely hit the ground running. We’re excited to begin the second half of our 2015-2016 Season and believe me, there are LOTS of great shows and events yet to come!

Little-Women-PosterDirector Shelagh Garren has assembled a brilliant cast of young actors for our Academy of Creative Theatre winter show, Little Women of Orchard House, opening Friday January 15 and running through the end of the month. Inspired by the life and work of Louisa May Alcott, this delightful student-acted show begins with Louisa May recalling her own childhood in Concord, Massachusetts. We quickly meet the real Alcott sisters and the many literary greats who visited “Orchard House” during her life there. Henry David Thoreau, once Louisa May’s teacher; Ralph Waldo Emerson, a close friend of the family; and a host of other real-life characters are brought to life as the fictional plot of Little Women and the real-life friends and family of Louisa May Alcott are cleverly entwined. This warm tale of love, family, and individuality is an ideal show for families who wish to introduce young children to live theater, to the work and time of author Louisa May Alcott and to her famous novel, Little Women. Some shows are already filling up, so make your reservations early!

FirstTime-Promo

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words, right? I can hardly wait for this show! My First Time by Ken Davenport features four actors in hysterical and heartbreaking true stories about first sexual experiences written by real people…just like you. Directed by the always hilarious Jill Turnbow and featuring Suzy Newman, Gregory Gorrindo, Bo Branum and Lauren Moore, My First Time is definitely worth staying up late for! This “not-ready-for-primetime” After Hours comedy runs January 22-30 for five shows only! Check out more photos and read more about the show HERE and be sure to get your tickets early!

Upcoming Auditions

AuditionsWe are in need of some very skilled actors for two amazing shows this spring. True West is a modern classic written by Sam Shepard that will have you laughing one moment and speechless the next. Wit, by Margaret Edson, is a beautiful play about poetry, cancer, love, dignity and dying. Trust me when I say that once you experience this play, you will never forget it.

If you’d like to audition to be a part of these shows and our spring season, check out all the information on our AUDITIONS page, and we’ll see you soon.

P.S. We’re still looking for two young men to fill out the cast of Cabaret. Contact Kevin Harris at [email protected] if you’re interested.
